Suppression of Pulse Jitter in Synchronously Pumped Optical Parametric Oscillators

Abstract

The use of synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillators (SPOPOs), as sources of both tunable laser radiation and short pulses, is becoming more and more widespread. It has been found [1] that for suitable mismatch between the pump repetition period and the resonated pulse cavity round trip time, the resonated pulse can be considerably (up to 20 times) shorter than the pump pulse. Here we present numerical results on the quality and stability of pulses generated in this pulse compression regime.
