Abstract
The phase of the scalar monochromatic field is indefinite in the point where the field amplitude vanishes. The continuum of such points is referred to as the wave front dislocations In particular, when the wave front is of helical configuration in the vicinity of a certain point, the corresponding singularities are referred to as the screw wave front dislocations, or the phase vortices.
