Abstract

The spectral bandwidth of ultrashort pulse frequency converters that in time domain is directly related to the group-velocity mismatch (GVM) is of high importance for frequency upconversion of femtosecond pulses. Among a variety of recently developed methods extending the bandwidth of sum-frequency converters only the group velocity matching in nonlinear crystals by pulse front tilting [1] and mixing of phase-modulated pulses [2] have been experimentally demonstrated providing femtosecond pulses in the ultraviolet.
