Abstract

Radiation from high average power short pulse lasers is used (necessary) for different applications in science, Industry and medicine. For a further improvement in average and peak power the laser systems based on Ti-sapphire are well suited because of its good thermal and lasing properties. Recently a new generation of high average power Q-switched frequency doubled lasers with diode pumping suitable for efficient pumping were developed that open up new perspectives for a tremendous increase of Ti sapphire systems average output power at high repetition rates.
