Abstract

According to official figures, in 70 countries around the world there are about 80–115 million landmines activated [1]. These mines are triggered accidentally and thereby killing or injuring more than 2000 civilians per month. Trinitrotoluene (TNT) is the most frequently used explosive in antipersonnel (AP)-mines. In this paper we investigate the interaction between some promising laser emissions based on spectroscopic measurement, TNT and some case materials in view of AP-mine neutralisation. Thereby it is the aim to achieve neutralisation by deflagration of the explosive and to avoid detonation.
