Abstract
Red AlGalnP-based VGSEL are of special interest for optical data communication via plastic optical fibers (POF) [1], This is shown by tremendous research activities in the field of POF over the last years. For high- temperature applications it is essential to understand the internal heat dissipation mechanisms. In this paper we use a model to describe the behavior of the device which will be compared to measured data. Additionally, reliability of these devices is a key point for commercial applications.
