Abstract

Solid state laser systems are widely used nowadays in various scientific and technology areas. Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is a perspective way to convert radiation of well developed lasers to new spectral regions. Vanadate materials doped with Nd3+ ions are known as the most effective media for developing low and medium power microchip lasers with LD pumping due to very high values of absorption and luminescence cross sections, long fluorescence lifetime. Recently it was shown that YVO4 and GdVO4 crystals exhibited high Raman gain coefficient and could be used for the efficient self-Raman conversion that allowed to develop compact and efficient solid state Raman laser systems [1,2].
