Abstract

In the past years the technological establishment of few-cycle-pulse lasers has led to great advances in many fields of physics, material sciences and life sciences. These mode-locked solid-state lasers operate only in the near-IR and visible spectral range. There have been only few attempts made to extend the short-pulse operation into the UV-DUV spectral range, although it is a very interesting regime, which would give new perspectives for a range of applications.
