Abstract

High-bit rate links at 40Gb/s and beyond suffer from transmission impairments. In-line monitoring could be efficiently performed in the optical domain. The use of device based on supercontinuum generation in normal dispersion regime, looks very promising due to its non-linear transfer function that may relate some spectrum parameters, in particular its shape, to input pulse properties [1]. PMD evaluation was proposed [2] but its implementation to high-bit-rate systems was not assessed.
