Abstract

Ultrafast-laser produced plasma hard X-ray sources are invaluable tools for time resolved diffraction studies, with applications ranging from biology to solid-state physics. Significant further advancement of these techniques requires substantial increase in source brightness and practicality. However, the existing solid-state ultrafast laser technology has already reached its maturity. Fiber lasers are a new rapidly developing and highly practical technology suitable for high average powers, with fiber laser generating mJ range ultrashort optical pulses [1]. In this paper we report the first demonstration of efficient hard X-ray generation using a femtosecond fiber laser driver.
