Abstract
With the development of the Petawatt Field Synthesizer (PFS) [1] the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics is pursuing optical parametric chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) for generating wave-form controlled, few-cycle light pulses reaching PW intensities. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, a novel pump source, generating 1ps pulses with an envisaged pulse energy of 50 J and 10 Hz, is planned . Here we present our progress in the implementation of an existing diode-pumped Yb:YAG MOPA system [2, 3] as the first stages of the final PFS CPA pump laser.
