Abstract
Solid-state laser sources emitting ultrashort pulses in the spectral range near 2 μm are potentially attractive for rangefinders, LIDAR and medical applications. Recently, we have reported a Q-switching of flash-lamp pumped Holmium lasers by glass doped with PbS quantum dots [1]. Here we present passive mode-locking of a 2-μm Cr:Tm:Ho:YSAG laser using PbS-quantum dot-doped phosphate glass as a saturable absorber.
