Abstract

Remote/scanner welding and deep penetration welding with a fiber laser of high power and high beam quality is receiving a great attention since the laser can achieve high-speed welding and deep penetraion welding for mass production. However, welding phenomena are not fully understood. Therefore, this study was undertaken to reveal the welding phenomena by assessing the effect of welding parameters on laser-induced plume behavior and weld penetration as well as by observing the behavior of a molten pool and a keyhole.
