Abstract

Combination of nanomaterials and nonlinear optics gives rise to interesting novel applications in life sciences. Among them, localized delivery of light seems most promising for avoiding photobleaching of surrounding biological area. Successful demonstration of nonlinear optical signal, such as second-harmonic generation (SHG) has been already performed with chemically synthesized niobate nanowires (NWs) [1]. However, those NWs are usually relatively short (3-5 μm) and show non-controllable crystal structure.
