Intense Lyman-α light source for generation of ultra-slow Muon

High-power ultra-slow Muon is open the way to the realization of ultrahigh-precision measurement of anomalous magnetic moment (g–2) [1] and ultra-slow Muon microscope [2]. The generation of such ultra-slow Muon require intense coherent Lyman-α (Ly-α) light source. The Ly-α light (122.09 nm) can generate by methods of two-photon resonance (TPR) four-wave mixing technique in a Kr gas medium [3]. The method have advantages in efficient TPR excitation and the TPR light (212.55 nm) can generate by the fifth harmonic of a conventional all-solid-state laser configuration. However, the fundamental wavelength of TPR (1062.78 nm) is slightly shifted from generally used Nd:YAG emission center (1064 nm) and its gain is poor. Where Nd doped Y3Ga2Al3O12 (YGAG) and Y3Sc2Al3O12 (YSAG) crystals have been reported to overcome such problem [4, 5]. In this paper, we report a development of spectrally specialized all-solid-state laser.
