Abstract

Fractional optical vortex with a non-integer topological charge, , which shows a low-intensity gap (radial opening) on its spatial form, has been widely investigated in many fields such as optical manipulating of microscopic particles and quantum information of entangled photons [1,2]. However, there are few reports concerning the direct generation of a fractional vortex, expressed as a coherent superposition of optical vortices with different topological charges, from laser resonators except our previous work based on a vortex-pumped KTiOPO4 optical parametric oscillator (OPO) at a lasing wavelength of 2.128 µm [3].
