Abstract
Trivalent europium ions (Eu3+) are widely used in phosphors due to their intense orange-red emission related with the 5D0→7FJ (J = 0–6) transitions. Recently, Eu-doped monoclinic double tungstate crystal, KGd(WO4)2, was used to produce a deep-red (~703 nm) laser [1]. In the present paper, we report on the anisotropy of absorption and luminescence, as well as quasi-CW and CW laser operation of isostructural Eu:KY(WO4)2 crystal (shortly, Eu:KYW).
