Abstract
Mode-locked semiconductor lasers are a promising alternative to currently available femtosecond laser sources like Ti:Sapphire or fiber lasers. They are directly electrically pumped and thus yield a high efficiency. Furthermore can they be miniaturized and are flexible on their emission wavelength and repetition rate.
