Electrically tuneable group velocity dispersion in photonic liquid crystal fibers measured by interference of supercontinuum pulses

Abstract

The advent of photonic crystal fibers (PCF) [1] nearly 20 years ago has fundamentally impacted modern fiber optical technologies. The hollow inclusions of these microstructured fibers can be infiltrated with arbitrary fluids and even metals. This changes the refractive index and affects the transmission and dispersion properties. Thus, new tuning capabilities for linear and nonlinear optics are established.
