New Manifestations of Self-Accelerating Light: Radial & Angular Self-Acceleration

Abstract

When reported for the first time, self-accelerating beams raised an unprecedented interest in the optical community [1, 2] and soon encouraged research in related scientific fields as well [3–5]. Since then however most studies were devoted to Airy-type self-acceleration phenomena meaning wave packets that exhibit an in-plane bending of the primary intensity feature. Nevertheless, other forms of self-acceleration do exist and have been reported.
