Determination of the orientation of a single emitter by polarimetry

Abstract

Efficient coupling of nanoemitters to photonic or plasmonic structures requires control of the orientation of the emitting dipoles. Nevertheless control of the dipole orientation remains an experimental challenge. Many experiments rely on the realization of many samples, in order to statistically achieve the coupling of a well oriented dipole within the structure. In order to avoid these statistical trials, the deterministical approach requires the knowledge of the nature of the emitter and its orientation.. We propose in this paper to determine the nature and the polarization of nanoemittor by polarization analysis of their emission.[1]
