Abstract

Metallic nanoparticles embedded in dielectric matrices have gained much attention recently, due to their unique linear and nonlinear optical properties. Recently, we reported on linearly polarized ps pulsed laser reshaping of silver (Ag) nanoparticles embedded in a soda-lime glass [1]. Laser irradiation of a thin layer (~ 20 µm) of nanoparticles led to a uniform elongation of the originally embedded spherical nanoparticles without any surface damage to the glass.
