Abstract

Photonic chip-based dissipative Kerr solitons (DKS), or soliton microcombs, have been successfully used in coherent communication, ultrafast ranging, dual-comb spectroscopy and frequency synthesis [1]. Until recently soliton microcombs have required separate frequency agile lasers [2] and the full photonic integration have been hindered by low Q-factors. Recently, great efforts have been made to develop such device based on microresonators by improving the fabrication process and the Q-factor of the Si3N4 [3-5].
