Abstract

The realization of negative index materials has initiated extensive research into metamaterials. Perfect absorbers and reflectors are of particular interest as their efficiency is endless in a range of different fields and devices. Especially with its excellent absorbent properties, metallic metamaterials contribute to the development of new devices that are useful in many different areas such as defense industry, communication and imaging. Especially in bio-sensing, metamaterials have been used widely as the metallic nanostructures on their surfaces can be used to manipulate the light efficiently and increase the light-matter interaction on surface, thus brings the name ‘metasurfaces’ [1].
