Abstract
Waveguides are light wave guiding microstructures that play important roles in the field of integrated optics [1]. Femtosecond laser writing is a promising way to fabricate these microscale waveguides according to the demands in practical applications. In recent years, waveguide lasers have been recognized as compact and miniature laser sources that could be on-chip integrated within photonics circuits [2]. With much higher optical intra-cavity intensities, superior laser performances, such as lower lasing threshold and enhanced slope efficiency could be expected in the waveguide laser systems. Recently, mode-locked waveguide lasers that operate with high repetition rate up to multi-GHz level have gained increasing research interest [3, 4], which could find potential applications in precision metrology, ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy, and high-speed optical communication. In this presentation, we will demonstrate 9.25 GHz fundamentally mode-locked laser based on optical lattice-like monolithic waveguides and PdSe2 as a new saturable absorber.
