Low-threshold frequency comb generation using second-order nonlinearities in lithium niobate whispering gallery resonators

Abstract

We generate frequency combs in millimeter-sized microresonators based purely on 2 nonlinear-optical processes second-harmonic generation, sum-frequency generation and optical parametric oscillation using 85 W pump power. Sub-W thresholds are within reach using chip-integrated resonators.
