Optical Memory Based on Conterpropagating Light in Microresonators

Abstract

We demonstrate how symmetry-broken states arising from the Kerr nonreciprocity in microresonators can be used for all-optical memories and logic gates. We explore different materials allowing bitrates of 10Gbps or power as low as 1muW.
