Abstract
We suggest and analyze a new type of microscopic laser, which uses a highly dispersive mirror to achieve stable dual-mode lasing. The mirror-dispersion is implemented using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) between two coupled nanocavities and allows a beat note frequency that is dynamically tunable. In contrast, a conventional laser resonator of the same length cannot address this frequency range. Thus, the proposed laser has potential applications in photonic microwave generation, terahertz sensing, and all-optical clock recovery [1].
