Abstract
Photonic topological insulators constitute a novel class of artificial structures supporting robust propagation of electromagnetic waves along edges and interfaces [1]. They hold special promise for numerous applications in optical communications and computing technologies due to the topological protection of their transport properties against disorder, including the ability to overcome structural defects without back-reflection. Given that optical non-linearity is an inherent characteristic of materials used in topological photonics, the wave processes in such structures can be accompanied by a variety of nonlinear effects, including harmonic generation, self-action effects, and modulational instability [2].
