Abstract
Infrared imaging is of great interest in identification, detection and diagnosis in a wide variety of fields such as biomedicine, security and surveillance applications. Nonlinear image upconversion form the infrared to the visible for visualization with CMOS/CCD silicon sensors has demonstrated to be a simple and cost effective technique for real-time visualization of IR images, based on sum-frequency mixing (SFM) in a nonlinear crystal of the infrared image with an auxiliary pump laser beam [1].
