Abstract

In optical communication networks, integrated silicon photonics microring resonators play an increasingly important role in switching and sensing. The CMOS compatibility and the high refractive index contrast of silicon (Si) enable the design of switching networks based on ring resonators. Additionally, the refractive index of silicon shows a high tuning range due to the thermo-optic effect [1, 2]. However, due to the small thermal impedance of silicon, in complex, densely packed circuits, unintentional thermal crosstalk [3, 4] between the thermally active ring resonators and other components may lead to limited performance.
