Observation of the thermal Rashba effect: custom polarization sorting in thermal emission

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate symmetry-driven metasurfaces thermally emitting to custom orthogonal polarization states, generalizing the phenomenon of spin-split dispersion to arbitrary polarizations.
