Inherited topological edge states in photonic trimer lattices

Abstract

We show that topological properties of edge states in trimer lattices are inherited from the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, albeit not featuring the traditional Zak phase invariant. Such edge states are demonstrated in a photonic platform.
