Photonic crystal cavities for enhancing the response of large-area scintillators

Abstract

We show that photonic crystal cavities can tailor the intrinsic emission spectrum of large-area scintillators via the Purcell effect, enhancing the overall photodetector signal by over 200% from improved overlap with the detector response.
