Microcavity Enhanced Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector

Abstract

We have demonstrated a QWIP photodetector embedded in metallic microcavity array with highly sub-wavelength pixel separation. This geometry allows for a drastic reduction of the effective area of the device and enhances light in-coupling with a lower number of absorbing quantum wells.
