Trapped atoms in one-dimensional photonic crystals

Abstract

We present one-dimensional photonic crystal waveguides which can stably trap neutral atoms and achieve single-atom reflectivities of r0 ≳ 0.9, as well as experimental progress towards fabrication and optical testing of such structures.
