Ultrafast Demagnetization and Precession Damping Times in Rare Earth Doped Cobalt Films

Abstract

We show that the ultrafast demagnetization (τM) and precession damping (ηM) times of rare-earth-doped Cobalt films have different physical origins. ηM is due to impurity induced spin scattering while τM is attributed to spin-orbit interaction
