Longitudinal patterning of twisted light beams

Abstract

Using new class of beams, known as Frozen Waves, we have generated beams carrying orbital angular momentum with a sense of rotation and phase twist that can be manipulated along the direction of propagation. This novel degree-of-freedom can lead to many advances in optical science and applications.
