Abstract

Kohn’s theorem excludes nonlinear light-matter interaction for Landau-quantized electrons. Intense THz and two-dimensional field-resolved spectroscopy however reveal population inversion and multi-wave mixing, which we explain through Coulomb interactions between electrons and the ionic background.
