Abstract

We report the design and experimental characterization of deep subwavelength optical modes (Vm~10−3 (λ/nsi)3 in high quality factor dielectric photonic crystals (Q~3 × 104). Our approach offers a low-loss alternative to metals for achieving extreme light concentration.
