Atom-mediated Spontaneous Parametric Down-conversion Using Evanescent Modes in Nonlinear Periodic Waveguides

Abstract

Relying on the bandgap modes of a nonlinear periodic waveguide, we propose the concept of atom-mediated spontaneous parametric down-conversion, where photon-pairs are only generated with a single 2-level emitter present, creating a heralded excitation mechanism.
