Quantum Čerenkov radiation in weakly and strongly-coupled regimes

Abstract

We present the time-dependent quantum electrodynamic theory of Čerenkov radiation, which reveals orders of magnitude corrections to the decay rate from the conventional theory, as well as significant modifications to the well-established Čerenkov dispersion relation.
