Disorder Topological Defects Induce Photonic Phase Transition

Abstract

We report on the observation of photonic phase transition emerging from disorder topological defects in geometric phase metasurfaces. Low defect concentration induces isolated vortices, whereas high disorder leads to a random vortex interaction.
