An Efficient Approach to Characterize Low Loss Waveguides Using Bragg Gratings

Abstract

An efficient approach to measure waveguide loss is developed using record-high Q (> 1×106) Bragg grating cavities. Our demo sample’s loss is evaluated as 0.24 dB/cm, whereas the measurement limit is estimated as 0.001 dB/cm.
