Non-Hermitian-enhanced photonic zero mode

Abstract

By ultrafast heterodyne measurements of light transport dynamics in a silicon waveguide lattice, we experimentally demonstrated the existence of a zero-energy mode whose topological characteristics are enhanced by non-Hermitian quantum phase engineering.
