Evolution and Conservation of Orbital Angular Momentum in Three-Dimensional Structured Light

Abstract

We engineer quasi 3D structured light fields in which the orbital angular momentum changes locally in both sign and magnitude along the beam’s axis and explain how such transitions occur without violating conservation of angular momentum.
