Controlling Optical Forces between Evanescently Coupled PT-Symmetric Waveguides

Abstract

We investigate optical forces between evanescently coupled optical waveguides with balanced gain and loss. This system reveals unusual properties, most notably the emergence of a tangential stress component parallel to the direction of wave propagation.
