Giant anisotropy in sub-micron vapor cells

Abstract

We demonstrate a giant light-induced anisotropy in sub-micron atomic vapor cells at elevated temperatures of ~250oC, showing a 1000-fold increase as compare with lower temperature ~150oC. The nanoscale thickness is crucial for observing this effect.
