Group Theory Approach for Designing Symmetry Protected Degenerate Bound States in the Continuum in Metasurfaces

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate methods for designing symmetry protected degenerate bound states in the continuum in dielectric metasurfaces. Deforming the metasurface can break symmetry protection, lifting the degeneracy and allowing the high-Q modes to be accessed.
