An optical parametric Bragg amplifier on a CMOS-chip

Abstract

We demonstrates the first optical prametric amplification using nonlinear Bragg grating where enhanced phase matching is enabled by utilizing the rapid increase and decrease in effective index near the stopband. An on/off parametric gain of 20dB is achieved in a 3-mm ultra-silicon rich nitride Bragg grating at a low peak power of 1.6W.
